Location. Built in 1906, the Churchill Hotel was originally constructed as an apartment dwelling in Washington, D.C. This property is located three blocks from Dupont Circle. The Phillip's Collection, considered the nation's first modern art museum, is located three blocks from the hotel. The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is positioned one mile away.
Hotel Features. The lobby features marble floors, fresh bouquets, recessed lighting and an ornate gold plated chandelier with 21 individual lamp shades. Renaissance paintings dress the walls. The Chartwell Grill, named after Sir Winston Churchill's estate, is well known for American style seafood and steak preparations. The business center is avilable twenty four hours a day. A limited hour fitness facility houses cardiovascular equipment, and the hotel offers discounted passes to a health and sports club located across the street.
Guestrooms. The nine story Churchill Hotel offers 173 guestrooms. Select rooms offer separate sitting areas and city or courtyard views. Beds include down comforters and pillows. Marble television stands support flat screen televisions. Bathrooms feature granite vanities and marble floors, and are stocked with Gilchrist & Soames bath products. All accommodations are equipped with refrigerators and coffeemakers. High speed wired and wireless Internet access is available for a fee.
Expert Tip. The Churchill Hotel has maintained its historic character, and as such, is one of only 210 properties recognized by the Historic Hotels of America. A $10 million renovation was completed in December, 2007. Updates were executed while respecting the property's architectural integrity.
